choose design

where to start?! on this page you will find some guidelines to help you choose a design.

a few standard guidelines:

  • no letters unless this is the main part of the design

  • No complex designs—it's your first time, after all! You can basically tuft anything, but too much detail will run out of time and look cluttered on the size you tuft (max. 45*50cm).

  • no photos of existing tufted designs to respect original works by other artists

  • it is not possible to apply different heights: we work with one machine/loop height

to outline

during the workshop you will outline all your areas twice. so keep it to a maximum of 7 to 10 areas, otherwise you will run out of time.

details

the maximum size you make is 50*45cm. small details also create a messy look. try to avoid too many small details!

perfectionism

perfectionist by nature? then choose an abstract design. after all, it is your first time!

this or that?

the right image has too much detail: and many intertwined planes and letters. nice cocktail? then go for a design like the left one.

the right image has both a lot of planes and a lot of twisted surfaces. looking for flower power? then go for a design like the left. then you can calmly finish your design without running out of time.

here too the right design has too many surfaces and also very small details. the left design is a better option!
